The house of mirrors represents my distorted view of my own artistic value. I have high expectations and demands of myself, and work myself hard when it comes to being creative and pursuing a career in music. Even though I have kept my standards high during the making of this album, there has been something liberating about the creative process during a period of social distancing, and uncertainty about live performance. Previously, my standards have included a critical assessment of whether other people would get on board with my creation, but this time, the only person I’ve been aiming to entertain is myself (if others happen to enjoy it, that’s just a bonus). I am my own judge and jury.
lyrics
Behind symbolic lock and key, I let restriction set me free
Put the blinkers on and see the flaws in my mentality
Even though I want to flee I get down on bended knee
What does this all mean for me?
It’s my only source of energy.
In a house of mirrors, you know it’s true
The judge and jury are staring back at you
This is my kingdom, in which I rule
I am the sovereign, I am the fool
My people friendly, my people kind
My people empty, my people blind
In a house of mirrors, you know it’s true
The judge and jury are staring back at you… staring back at you
And my only burden Is behind my curtain,
This weight I put on my shoulder, as I’m getting older
But I’m starting over again
My expectations, my demands
The things I’d hoped for, the things I planned
How can I live with a compromise?
It’s all or nothing, I’ll aim for the skies
In a house of mirrors, you know it’s true
The judge and jury are staring back at you
In a house of mirrors, you know it’s true
The judge and jury are staring back at you

Loving the 2 tracks available. Great harmonies and lyric content. Favourite song, so far, is Distance brings us Closer ... there’s real feeling. thekathrynm

Just discovered The Lost Trades and love listening to this trio of musicians. So reminiscent of the early 70’s Laurel Canyon sound. Their music is full of delicious three part harmonies and beautiful melodies. The blend of their three voices remind me of CSN back in the day. Petrichor is just an amazing album that needs to be heard by everyone. Open up your ears people, this is really good music. horshamseagull
